Creating a VBS user for VBS integration

Creating a VBS user in Visma Business (not VUD), server integration and VBS username

Innhold

  1. Server integration
  2. VBS username

Here we will address how to set up a VBS user so that the VBS integration with BxLogistics will work. This, first and foremost, requires a VBS license from Visma.

The difference between a server integration and a VBS username setup is mainly the license, but also the amount of requests the user can handle simultaneously.

Server integration

When you are integrating with a server integration, it is required that you also have a context user. In most cases, using a standard "system" user as a context user in our system, will be enough, but we still highly recommend that you create and use your own context user if possible as it in some cases may be that you wish to separate the system user from a third party integration. An example of this can be BxLogistics, to separate who has done what within Visma, if there should be several third parties that integrate towards Visma etc, or if users within the company uses system to complete tasks within Visma.

Here we address creating both a Context user and a VBS user. If a system user as context is all you need, you do not have to do anything other than creating the VBS user from step 5 - 10 below.

  1. Open Administration -> User / Access -> User.
  2. Create a context user in the Username column, and name it as desired.
  3. Give the context user all the Logistics modules in the modules column -> OK (double click to open).
  4. It also requires Access-group number - usually 1 - System,
    and Company-group number - usually 1 - Standard

    This should be enough to have an extra Context user. It may be a good idea to assign a password to this user, if needed. Remember to hit Save after these four steps are completed.
  5. The next step is to create a VBS user as a server integration.
  6. Give this user Server integration under Visma Business Services
  7. Choose a password and then press OK.

  8. And finally it should look like this in Visma Business - Remember to click the save button when a user has been created.
  9. The last step is to restart the Visma Business Services Host service. This is necessary for the new user to be activated.
  10. The VBS server integration user should now be ready for use in our setup.

VBS username

When you are using a VBS username, you only need to create one user.

  1. Open Administration -> User / Access -> User
  2. Create a username in the username column and give it a preferred name.
  3. Give the user access to all the modules under Logistics, and Username under Visma Business Services -> OK.

  4. The user must obtain the correct access-group number, company-access number and a standard company number.
  5. Create a user password -> OK

  6. Remember to press the save button, and it will look like this.
  7. The last step will be to restart the Visma Business Services Host service, as this is necessary for the new user to be activated.
  8. The VBS username should now be ready for use in our setup. Follow this link to learn how the VBS setup with a username in BxAdmin is done.
