Some handheld terminal are delivered with the Start menu (Windows button) locked by default. To unlock it, press the F6 key. This will bring up the Datalogic Desktop Utility. Go to the Win tab and activate Taskbar and Start menu, then press OK in the top right corner.
Step-by-step wireless network setup
- Press Start menu → Programs → Summit → SCU
- Go to the Profile tab and press Scan
- Select the correct wireless network and press Configure. When asked if you want to create a new profile, press Yes. Enter the password and press OK.
- Press the Commit button. You will get a conformation sound (a beep) and the Commit button will turn gray.
- Go to the Main tab and select the correct profile from the list. Wait until the Status field shows Associated consistently for at least 15 seconds.
Troubleshooting
If you are unable to connect, for example if the Associated status is unstable and keeps switching between Associated and Not associated, this could indicate an incorrect password. Alternatively, you may need to switch from WPA2-PSK-TKIP to WPA2-PSK or vice versa in the profile setup. Remember to press Commit after making changes. The WEP keys/PSKs option is where you can re-enter the password.
If the Main tab shows a status message like Externally disabled or Error, press Start menu (Windows button) → Settings → Network and dial-up connections. Right-click (press and hold) on the network icon and select Enable. The network icon looks like an upside-down T with a red cross or a yellow dot. After that, it is recommended to preform a warm boot.
